It all started with our brother Pablo

Our little brother Pablo, who has Down syndrome, inspired the creation of Pictalk. Pablo is non-verbal and communicates through pictograms. Although his speech therapist had set up a physical pictogram binder for him, it was cumbersome. Therefore, we decided to develop a digital solution to have it directly on his phone.

Our mission

Our mission is to help people with cognitive disabilities, such as autism (ASD) or Down syndrome, to become more autonomous. We are convinced that the inclusion of individuals with neurodevelopmental disorders is an asset for society.

• 2020

  Beginning of development

  The pandemic ironically gave us time and brought us together as a family. We opened our eyes to Pablo's issues.

• 2021

  Winner of the "Coups de pouces passion" from the INSA Lyon Foundation

  Pictalk's first award. The prize helped pay for the initial infrastructure.

• 2022

  Winner of the "Digital Innovation" award at the Handitech Trophy 2022 edition

  Our pitch in front of an audience of at least 100 people, a first for us! We are extremely proud to have won this national competition that brings together the most talented HandiTech professionals.

• 2023

  Participation in the CESER awards of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region

  The CESER awards bring together the finest initiatives that are part of the AuRA region. We were not winners, but we nevertheless encountered some great projects.

• 2024

  Incubation at the INRIA Startup Studio in Lyon

  This is a major milestone for Pictalk. We have started working on the project full time and aim to find a sustainable model for the applications.
