Pictalk Buddy in a medico-social structure
In special education centers and other medico-social structures, creating visual schedules, detailed guided sequences (procedures, chaining), and maintaining life journals can quickly become time-consuming and complex. Pictalk Buddy simplifies this daily management by allowing professionals to easily create, share, and manage all these visual supports from a single intuitive application.
Multiple profiles on the same device
Like Netflix, Pictalk Buddy allows managing multiple profiles on the same device. This feature offers many concrete advantages:
- Cost savings on hardware purchases
- Ease of daily use
- Quick access to information for professionals
- Personalized monitoring of each supported person
Create a group
A group consists of profiles (residents or students) and collaborators (professionals). Collaborators can create, modify, and delete events, sequences, and life journals. Profiles, meanwhile, can view these resources without being able to make major modifications.
To create a group:
- Open the settings
- Click on “My groups”
- Click on “Create”
- Give your group a name
- Confirm the creation
A confirmation will then appear.
Congratulations! You can now add your first profile to the group.
Invite a person via their e-mail
In this example, we will invite the parents of “Aurélien” to create a Pictalk account and join the group.
Choose between profile and collaborator
If you do not want the parents of “Aurélien” to be able to modify the group’s resources (calendar, sequences), leave the role as “Profile.”
If you invite a member of your team who should have editing rights, select “Collaborator.”
Set permissions
There are four levels of permissions:
- None: none of the profile's private resources will be visible
- Create: you can create resources for this profile but not access the rest of its content
- Create and read: you can create resources for this profile and view its content, but not delete it
- Full access: you can create, read, modify, and delete all resources of the profile
Once the invitation is sent, if the invited person does not yet have an account, they will receive this email:
After creating “Aurélien’s” account, the invitation appears in the app. Once accepted, the account automatically benefits from premium access and the group becomes visible.
Invitation via QR code
To add a person more quickly, you can generate a QR code and scan it directly from the app.
Create a member (profile only)
To start using Pictalk with someone who does not yet have an account, you can create a profile for them, then later link it to an email address (parents or legal guardians).
You then have full permissions on this profile.
When “Pablo’s” parents provide their email address, you can add it to the profile. You will be asked to enter an email address and a temporary password (which must be changed upon first login).
Shared calendar
A calendar shared among all group members is automatically created for each group. Photos of each member are visible there. By clicking “Share,” you can view and extend the list of people who have access to the calendar.
To create a second shared calendar:
- Go to the “My calendars” menu
- At the top of the creation form, select your group
- Complete the calendar information
Shared guided sequence
When creating a guided sequence, you can select the owner of the sequence at the top of the form. You can choose among your profiles, your collaborators, yourself, or the entire group.
Shared life journal
Similarly, when creating a life journal, you can select its owner at the top of the form: a specific profile, a collaborator, yourself, or the entire group.
How a life journal owned by a group works
When a life journal belongs to a group, access for members differs according to their role:
- Collaborators can create a note for everyone or for a particular person
- Profiles can create notes visible only to collaborators
You can modify the recipients of each note via the menu at the top left.
Use a profile on the shared device
The newly created profile can be used directly on the structure’s main shared device. Simply click on the profile picture to easily switch from one profile to another, allowing quick access to the information of each supported person.
On-site training
We also offer training directly within your structure to help you fully master the use of Pictalk Buddy and optimize your daily support.
Conclusion
Thanks to its features specifically designed for medico-social establishments and services (ESMS), Pictalk Buddy improves the daily life of professionals, optimizes the monitoring of supported persons, and simplifies collaborative management of visual supports. An effective, intuitive, and secure solution, perfectly adapted to real-world needs.
